Bookkeeping from a Shoebox is a comprehensive 32 hour workshop being offered by Community Futures Ventures. This workshop takes you through the complete bookkeeping process for one month of a typical retail operation. You will learn how to record your receipts, bills, invoices, till tape (source documents) into a transaction journal. After recording one week of source documents, you will sort the information from your transaction journal to your general ledger and then complete a trial balance. At the end of one month you will be able to take the information from the trial balance to complete the balance sheet and income statement. You will also learn how to do payroll and how to complete the necessary government forms such as TD1 / TD1SK Forms, PST Return, GST Return, Payroll Remittance Form, Record of Employment Form (ROE), T4 Slips, and T4 Summary.
Once you have completed Bookkeeping from a Shoebox, you will be able to perform the functions necessary to establish and maintain a set of books for a small business.
